"Carrying a sword is often easier than crafting one, I found." Willem nodded. "Although not always." He said through last with a glance at his damaged plate. "I suppose I ought to leave you to your work."

"Aye, Ser. Well, call upon in three days and you will find your piece in sterling condition."
(Obviously, you already came back and got the breastplate.)

14th day, 3rd Moon
Willem returned on the afternoon of the third day following his conversation with the smith. He was walking slightly easier than he had been three days prior, although he did look to still be in some minor discomfort. Entering the forge, he looked around for the smith.

(sorry if I am interrupting this thread.)
///////// 20th Day, 3rd Moon
Belric entered the forge alone, leaving his guard out front. He looked to see if Jamie the Smith had a moment to talk about a somewhat personal project.

Jaime was staring at a sword, and sketching it when the lord arrived. The commoner immediately stood when he saw Belric, and set down the paper and charcoal. "My lord! How might I serve you this day?"
He had an easy smile, but it always seemed burdened. Perhaps it was his daughter's death, or perhaps it was the way men looked at him since he had lead the revolt against Houses Lothston and Whent. Belric knew well enough that talent was as much a cause for unhappiness as success.

"I am in need of a new chair." He said bluntly. "Something sturdy, for the great hall. Wood doesn't suit me."

"A proper throne, my lord?" He inquired without judgment or presumption. "Or something with a less dire appearance?"

"No, no. My desires are simple. Just a solid chair that will be kind to my back." Belric put a hand to his lower back, pantomiming the regular pain associated with aging.

"I know just the thing." The smith nodded. "I have designs for something old Lord Lothston commissioned before his death. Ornate but practical."

Belric held up a finger and pointed it at Jamie. "No bats," he said, as if it were both a statement and a question.

"No bats, my lord. Just comfort. I could replace them with ravens to match your sigil, though that seems illogical if I understand your song correctly."

"No, ravens will not do either." Belric smiled at the irony. "How long will you need to make such a thing, smith?"

"Before the week is out, my lord. I have the plans close at hand, and your commission supersedes all others."

"That will do fine," He said, satisfied with the smith's timetable. "I have a second request for you Jamie, though it is not something I can order you to do. This is something for which you must volunteer."
Belric walked around the forge, admiring the tools of the trade. He had always like the idea of creating things with his hands. Had he not been born into the house of a lowly knight, Belric liked to think he would have been a blacksmith himself.
"I have plans for the Harrentown, and I would like to see our people thrive. As I take the steps to push us forward, it is important to remember the past. I would like you to create a memorial to your children, and all of the lost children of Harrentown, to be displayed in the square." Belric had wondered if his request was too personal, but it was something he wanted to see done before the village grew into a great city.

(Easiest persuasion roll ever. Two points awarded.)
Jamie dropped his cool professionalism, feeling the need to grasp the table as Belric spoke. The high lord could see the muscles flexing in his arms as the children were mentioned. The closest any Blackfort had come to broaching the subject had been Lady Saesha when she had brought Danelle Lothston's armor into his shop and he had threatened to burn it as an effigy in the town square. When he spoke again, there was a slight tremble. The man was clearly still grieving.
"My lord... I am not quite sure how to respond... It would be my honor to take part in... In such an endeavour."
