"Oh? May I ask what it is?" Jared asked, eyeing the bag with open curiosity. "Somehow I imagine you are not speaking of valuables, else you would be giving that to Lord Blackfort."

"Well, it may have been valuable to someone once", replied sadly. "Hoster give him the bag, please."
"Septon place a blessing on these, so they will be at peace."

"Are those bones?" Jared asked. He held out his hand. "Where were they?"

"Yes, they are bones of babies, supposedly killed and buried by Ser Simon Whent."
"At the foot of the big tree on the training grounds."

Hoster opened the bag and showed it to him. "We counted four skulls. The... The hounds had already stripped them by the time Lady Aelison found them."

Her face was drawn into a scowl,"Why do this? What purpose did this serve?"
"And I plan to ask Ser Simon exactly that."

"Seven Hells!" Jared frowned. "When I came here, I heard that Lady Danelle killed the local children. Perhaps these poor souls are simply further evidence of the lady's villainy."
He gazed sadly at the bones. "I will gladly help to arrange a more suitable burial, and pray for the infants. Does Lord Belric know of this yet? It would be unwise to accuse Ser Simon without first informing Lord Belric."

"Not yet, Septon. And I was under the impression he had confessed and been acquitted in trial by combat with his own nephew. I think. The whole affair sounds mad however you phrase it."

"Thank you and I am sure those children will find peace."
"I do agree with you, i should talk to my cousin first before accusing one of his knights."

"I believe Ser Simon was indeed acquitted," Jared admitted with a sigh. "Yet it's no easy thing to see a murderer escape justice. The Father Above must have been sleeping on the day of the trial by combat. I will do what I can for the remains of those poor children, and advise caution when dealing with Ser Simon."

"Pardon me for saying this Septon, but acquittal be damned", she fussed until her face was flushed with redness,"There is evidence right there in your hands... I found it myself." Aelison looked frustrated, then she shook her head with a deep sigh,"I will speak to Belric and let him be there when I speak to Ser.... Simon", her tone was sarcastic enough but she understood what the Septon was telling her. "If my cousin believes me and comes to you for your part in this, you will not find a form of forgetfulness about what I gave you or where I found it because I do have another witness."
She tried to calm herself, she could not really recall the last time she felt so.... So upset but she looked at him with concern,"Again, I do thank you for doing what you can in putting those little ones to rest", she gave him a light smile and made her way to her cousin's solar accompanied by Hoster.

Left behind in the sept, Jared hoped Aelison wouldn't let her emotions get 5he better of her.

////////////////// 4th day of the 5th moon
Belric entered the sept for the first time since arriving in Harrenhal. He did not linger, promptly seeking out the septom, unable to remember if he met the man already.
"Septom," he said, spotting Jared by his attire instead of his appearance. He fought back his surprise at the man's size, Belric knew a soldier when he saw one. "Can we speak in private?"

Jared smiled politely at his lord. He was actually rather surprised to see Belric, having no recollection of the man attending services in all the time he'd been lord of Harrenhal, yet it was a foolish septon who did not make the effort to treat his lord with courtesy, whether he attended sermons or not.
"Certainly, my lord. Would the side chamber be suitable? I mislike the notion of shutting the sept to worshippers in need of holy comfort. We shan't be disturbed in the side chamber. My own quarters are there and there's plenty of room."
He gestured at a closed door set in the far side of the sept.

"Your quarters will do fine, there is no need to close the sept." He replied kindly, following Jared's lead as he led him into his chambers.
Once they were secluded from any outside listeners, Belric began again. "I am here on behalf of my people. I am sure you are aware of my heritage, house Blackfort can trace its line back to the first men and as such I am not a follower of the seven. However, I have recently become aware that many of my subjects are worried that their lost children are stranded in limbo. Because Lady Lothson claimed the lives of so many youngling, they fear for the children that were not properly ordained." He gave Jared a trying look, "I am curious to hear what you have to say on the matter. Are your gods so cruel to not grant innocent children grace?"
