"No time like the present," said Harlan, made sure his companions were ready, and attempted to open the door.

There was a distinct odor emanating from the room, like a Maester's cabinet. The door was locked, and judging by the clean, shiny handle, it might be the same expensive locks on the front door. "Stand back, Harlan." The Reachman lifted his shield, and as soon as the Hawick was out of the way, Sebastian rammed the door into smithereens. Inside was something like a solar, the walls covered with books, a desk in the corner, a table in the center, and an active fireplace. Near the fireplace were two men. The first was the second thug Nyles had followed to the tannery, just as prepared to kill the squire then as now, only now he had traded his workman's knife for a longsword and was now wearing leather. The second man was presumably the elusive Benjy Blue Eyes. ![](https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/21/eb/10/21eb10c1252e78decd63f78aabe6045c.jpg) In any case, he had striking blue eyes and had previously attempted to kill Nyles. He was wearing chainmail and had a dagger and sword of castle forged steel gripped in his hand, a marked contrast to the more common armaments wielded by his men. He had his foot on a barrel next to the burning fire. "Tell me, my good nobles." His accent was highborn, educated, and would not be out of place in court. "Has anyone ever told you how this house's previous owner met his demise?" He shifted the barrel around with his foot. (It's a rather large room, so don't feel you need to crowd the doorway.) Downstairs, Richard presses his advantage, and dominates his opponent with a finely aimed lunge into the same place beneath the shoulder he himself was struck. He howls, then howls a second time. It takes the knight a moment to realize there is now an arrow sticking out of Kubark's back, though it doesn't seem a particularly deep wound. Kubark ignores it, and begins moving into a second floor hallway where Donnel cannot hit him. (Heavy Wound and Light Wound to Kubark. 1 point to Richard for almost hitting 100 on that last roll.)

There was a long list of things that did not interest Nyles Blackfort. Literature, gymnastics, philosophy, but what interested him less than any of those was anything that the Aryan Nation-looking son of a bitch in front of him had to say. "Probably much the same way you're about to," the squire said. "Can we please just kill him now? It's been a long day ad my uncle still isn't here. We might need to help him after this."

"You must be Nyles." Spoke their target evenly. "My spies said you were a cheeky little shit. Still, perhaps your precociousness has a limit. In this barrel is enough wildfire to scatter this floor across Blackwater Bay, should you value your pride over your life. Now, I could offer you gold as well, but in truth, I'll need that after the reckoning you and your friends have brought down on my operation here. So I'm hoping you'll settle for the warm fuzzy feeling of accomplishment in your gut. They might even knight you. And you, Ser Sebastian, can return to your lady love, absent only the bits you were missing beforehand. And you, Ser Harlan, should be in the castle, protecting your charge's modesty, should you not?"
(Nyles passes Intimidation roll and is free to make own choice without influence from Admin.)
Kubark waits in the hallway, nursing his belly with his dagger arm. "Changed mind... Will make pants out of white cloak. So Kubark can literally shit on your memory."

Nyles stares at the barrel and then chuckles, the blood bubbling from his shattered eye socket. "Do you think I came here for a knighthood?" He said, actually a bit amused, his teenage brain finding unexpected hilarity in the idea. "Do you think I came here for pride?" He actually couldn't contain a tiny laugh, which choked out in pain as the red liquid continued dripping through his makeshift bandage. "If you want to send us all up in flames then my soul is ready to answer to the Father and the Warrior," he said, blood loss easing the decision. Truth be told, he'd never hurt more in his life. "You tried to kill me. You tried to kill my sister. You're trying to kill everyone I ever cared about. You're leaving this house in chains or as a pile of ashes," the squire vowed. "The choice is entirely yours."

"You can certainly try" said Richard as he drove in with the attack. He was hurting, but he trusted in Donnel coming up to support.

Harlan had only heard tales of wildfire, yet it was more than enough to be extremely cautious of it. He looked from the barrel to fire to see whether jumping on it and smothering it with his cloak was a possibility.

(Success. 1 point to Observation.) Harlan can just make out a small white stream leaking into the fire place, fizzling, and then... Nothing. The knight remembers the smell that greeted them upon entering the room. Like... Milk of the poppy?
Benjy follows his eyes to the barrel and curses before stepping away from it to take a combat stance. "Well, Rory. It's been a pleasure serving His Grace with you."
"My sentiments as well, milord."

Kubark has grown slow, but not feeble. He blocks each blow with his sword arm, and then manages to land blows that would have killed an unarmored man. But Richard is still the better fighter, deftly leaping over cabinets and chairs the sellsword pulls down in his wake before partially slicing one of his opponent's cheeks off with Dark Sister. Kubark doesn't seem to notice immediately, and continues alternating between fight and flight.
(Light Wound to Kubark. Yes, really.)

Without further ado, Ser Harlan raised his shield and stepped forward to charge Benjy with the intent of disarming him if at all possible. If not, he'd attempt to cut him a little first.

Nyles goes in to attack too. It was time for this to end.

Kubark raised his hand to defend himself from Dark Sister and loses three fingers for his effort. His scream sounds like a party laugh coming through his now skull-like face with its mad eyes. It is the last sound anyone hears him make as Richard smoothly decapitates the sellsword. Even now, after rolling on the floor before stopping by a doorframe, Kubark looks like he's having the time of his life.
Richard never learns where in the Seven Hells they even found this guy.
(1 point to Richard. Presumably he'll be wanting to find and join his comrades. I'll let you know when you can arrive.)

As the Blackfort men attempt to corner the ringleader, Sebastian is left with the task of murdering Ser Rory Storm. The hedge knight proves to be more than a match though, as he dodges all of Florent's attacks. This is not the raw but confused speed of Kubark, but the movement of a man who has been fighting plated enemies his entire adult life. His longsword doesn't make it past the steady shield emblazoned with a fox though, and before long, Sebastian draws first blood through the leather.
Fun fact about Ser Rory. By royal decree, he is in fact the legitimate heir to Blackhaven, and was declared Ser Rory Dondarrion shortly after the Redgrass. If House Targaryen had won the war and overthrown his loathsome bitch of a stepmother, he'd be Lord Rory Dondarrion, not a common hedge knight who missed the boat to Volantis.
(Medium Wound to Ser Rory Storm.)
The blue eyed man is far more efficient though, and stabs Harlan in the left side, twisting the knife for extra suffering before pulling out. He twirls about before Nyles can defend his friend and blocks the squire's sword with his own. He doesn't smile or gloat as he deftly slips the dagger into the young man's wrist past the gauntlet, striking a major artery.
(Heavy Wounds to Ser Harlan and Nyles.)

Sebastian shows why Fireball wanted him by his side, by knocking aside the hedge knight's next blow with his shield like swatting a child aside before driving his sword into the man's leg. Florent headbutts the man before removing his weapon, leaving him with a shattered nose and a limp should he ever leave this house alive.
(Heavy Wound to Ser Rory Storm.)
As he grips the knife in the squire's wrist, the man called Benjy whispers, "I owe you a lot of pain, Nyles Blackfort." Then the sword swooped down and back up like a swallow before cutting into his armpit above his shield hand, severing his axillary artery. Before he can mutilate Nyles further, Harlan slashes his own blade across the spymaster's back. The stranger turns around, no longer blinded by his need to punish.
Nyles knows enough medicine to understand that the sudden cold chill in his arm will soon be accompanied by the slowing of his heart as his life's blood drains down his side. He will not find a proper healer in time, and no amount of quick bandaging will hold back the tide. But he can still stand and hold his sword for a few more minutes. Not many men in Stranger's Hill can say the same.
(Heavy Wound to Benjy Blue Eyes. Mortal Wound to Nyles Blackfort. Richard may arrive now.)

Blood should be warm, the squire thinks as the fluid flows lazily out of him, so why is it all so cold? There's a fire, there's fighting, but it's just all so cold. Somehow his right hand is still on his sword, and for the short remainder of life left to him Nyles realizes with a dull sort of panic that he cannot remember exactly why. The man with blue eyes. That was it. He could try stabbing the man with blue eyes. Can he see the man with blue eyes? His vision is so weird, Ike the time he'd stolen all Belric's liquor and gotten blinding drunk, the only corridor for vision a small, coin-sized tunnel as his capillaries in his one good eye start to empty. He starts to mutter incomprehensible things as he tries to swing or stab, but whether he even faces the right direction is beyond him.
All he really wants to do is sleep. Maybe this sleep will be free of the dreams of blood and screaming and mud and war that have followed him since he was just a little boy. Maybe this sleep will bring peace....

Richard enters the room as his nephew falls, and his wounds are instantly forgotten. This war was still tearing at them, and this man was one of those who was now causing it to his family. He could do nothing to save his brother. He'd do anything to save that mans son.
He brought the fury of Dark Sister upon Benjy with everything he had.
