"Long as you don't ask us to fight in a real battle, think they'd be okay with being able to fight off the bandits stead of cowering. Better than letting the bas... looters kill us without a fight." he said bluntly.

"Ideally the bandit problem should be fixed before our building projects can begin in earnest. Though you raise a fair point mason, perhaps expanding the ranks of our guardsmen should be considered." He began to open a specific ledger but quickly closed it, adding "Though perhaps we should add that to the end of the meeting's schedule."

"Ideally the bandit problem should be fixed before our building projects can begin in earnest. He'll raise his cup to that. Just a few idiots out there preying on the farmers, shouldn't be that hard at all for someone to deal with em. He had no idea what this talk about a loan was about though. Seemed like it'd be easier to get one from closer.

"Jormun will be responsible for the capture and care of the bears intended for the pit. His run in with the beast that nearly took his leg has left him hungry for more." Belric smiled wickedly, his bastard brother's courage resembled insanity, however it was courageous none the less.
"As for your workers, Qhorin, they will be supplied guards at the work site. If they wish to learn how to fight, I have no problem allowing them to train. Every man should know how to defend himself. However, it is to be on their own time, and if it impedes upon their work I will put a stop to it immediately. The port should be our number one priority, let my men deal with the bandits should it come to that."

"I think we should postpone any work to the bear pit until you have returned from Riverrun. We have already struck four thousand dragons from the treasury today, let us not expend the rest too soon."

"Which brings us onto the final point. The Loan. My lord husband spoke of the prospect of getting a loan from the Iron Bank, someone has already mentioned getting one from closer, but I am not sure myself who has the money after the war to aid in such. I do not think a loan is wise while we have the money to not need one, we do not wish to be saddled with a debt that cannot be repaid if trouble were to spring up." Saesha moved them on, as they were so eager to move from point to point.

"The pit's need little work in way of restorations, I do not think they would cost much coin to open. However, we can start acquiring beasts for the fights in my absence. I would like the pits to be ready upon my return, and for the tourney that will follow."
"As for the loan, let us talk about this once we have regained our wealth from these construction projects. I would not have us take a loan from the Iron Bank without the proper collateral to pay them off should things go south. However, to have good credit with the bank is to have an invaluable ally. I would not ignore that opportunity."

Edmure looked around the gathering, remarking, "I'd like it on the record, that in my view a loan from the Iron Bank is not necessary. At least for the moment. I'd like to see what revenue our lands can generate before we make such a decision."

"I agree, getting a loan when we do not need one, makes no sense to me. " Saesha nodded.

Belric had thought his direction to hold discussing the loan until he returned was sufficient. However, now that everyone had decided to throw in their opinions, he could not refrain from being frustrated. He was supposedly surrounded by the best minds in Harrenhal, minus a urine soaked maester, and none of them had an ounce of business sense.
"Are the lot of you as daft as you look? If we are to rebuild Harrenhal and turn it into the pride of the Riverlands, we are going to need financing. It takes money to make money, that is the whole nature of building a profitable land. We have towers to rebuild, infrastructure to complete, and soldiers to hire. Are all of you so ignorant that you think you are above the Iron Bank? Sure, we can build a sizable fortune by taking our time and building slowly. However, I intend to create a grand legacy, worthy of the Blackfort name. To do that we will need help, and there is no ally like the Iron Bank. How do you think wars are won gentlemen? Establishing a credit with Braavos now is one of the single smartest things we can do to protect our future. When the peace runs dry, we will want their gold on our side. If that means paying a little interest, I will do it gladly."

Qhorin sat back in his seat and took it. He'd said nothing about the loan so far, and would keep it that way. Either it'd get through or it wouldn't, no reason to get in the way of anyones agendas. Building things would be needed, and he'd stick his neck out for necessities there. Wasn't his place to go against the Lord, Castellan, or Lady. And he'd stay as far away from conflicts in that horrible triangle as possible.

"I just don't see the necessity for it right now." replied Edmure. "Build up our resources. Get the quarry and port going. See what revenue they generate. Then if you feel we need a loan from the Iron Bank to further our progress, by all means. Then it will enable us to more accurately determine the amount that we need to borrow. That is my advice brother. But as always it is your decision."

"I am in favour of dealing with the Iron Bank." Jon said with certainty. "Half the Lords in Westeros are likely seeking loans to rebuild their lands. And if we do not take advantage of the Iron Bank, others certainly will." He quickly skimmed his ledger, "A figure of 15,000 dragons seems likely. More than enough to secure our financial position and pay for further building projects. And as Lord Belric has already pointed out, taking a loan will bind the Iron Bank into our interest, as they should want to see their investment returned." Jon laid the ledger down and smiled, he rather enjoyed talking about money going into the treasury for a change.

"Our interest, and half the other lords to whom they already will have ties with and will likely be asking equally if not greater sums" she pointed out.

"Thank you uncle, at least one of you has some sense!" Belric slammed his fist onto the table in emphasis.
Listening to Saesha, he could not help but feel she was being hypocritical, or simply arguing for the hell of it. "All the more reason to start building our relationship with the Iron Bank as soon as possible."
