As the tavern is located near the Kingsroad, a number of traders pass by, though no one of particular interest or anyone that looked wealthy enough to risk the job by robbing. Most were poor peasants heading towards Lord Harroway's Town to peddle their wares.

Sigfry snorted a bit, as he worked to get the armor on. He bore no ill will towards Boros, and he could see what he was trying to do. He may have been a man ready to kill, but he was also still human, if not a very humane one.
"I thought it was pretty funny myself. Any company's a welcome change..." The man said as he worked to try and get the armor secured onto his person, finding it a difficult challenge with one one hand to use, "Been on my own for a long while...having someone who just says stuff is nice...and...welcome..." he was struggling to get some of the straps tightened, his neck twinging as his muscles struggled to meet the task.

"Being alone is never good. If it were not for my kids here..." Boros' proceeded to pet Bartholomeo behind his floppy ears. "I'd have gone insane a long while ago. Though they aren't much of a talking bunch."
"I just can't wait to get back home, to the arms of both my dears. Have a long conversation with them, tell the tales of my life on the road." Boros' smiled kindly at Sigfry. His eyes filled with hope that someday he would recover the life he had once lived. "Family, you know. There's nothing like it. A safe harbor after a long tiring storm."

"You'd better get creative with your tales then," said Vex, looking to Boros with a slight smirk. "Unless your family wants to hear about murder and robbery. If it's anything else you're expecting out of this, your decision to join our gang was definitely an ill-made one."
She watched Sigfry struggle with the armour for a while, and then, just because they were the only people there, walked over and helped him fasten the problematic straps. "What's your story?" she asked, brushing her fingertips against his neck a few times quite purposefully as she worked on the clasps. "I get the sense you're not a lone wolf by choice?"

"No, im not...im here because of my family..." He said, glancing towards boros with a hard to place look. Something within it, annoyance perhaps, though more accurately, it was jealousy. Sigfry rolled his arms slightly, feeling the plate now secure as he spoke, "Perhaps you know what its like Boros. There is a certain expectation that one is held to when part of a family. A lot of pressure, to become what your family needs you to be..."
"My older brother was born to be strong, and he was. My younger brother was born to be clever, and indeed he was. Very much so. I was born to poor health, which did not improve until I was much older. I was not what they wanted, so they had no place, and no love, for me." He said it flatly, but there was a bitterness to it as his expression darkened. His one hand clenched as he recounted what he'd told on tavern outtings with the master at arms.
"Royal families are often quite a troubled bunch. Its all about playing favorites and using others. The fact that at least one of us has family who doesn't want to murder them, or have them take the black...it makes me happy and jealous, I won't lie."

"Well?" asked Vex as they approached, looking like she'd been waiting for them for weeks, if not months. "Report."

"Aren't you an impatient one," gilded Harlan. He made sure to find himself a seat, stretch out his legs, and get nice and relaxed before beginning story-time.
Finally ready, he said, "There's a lot of bodies in there, we're not going to be able to take the tavern without some bloodshed. Man who owns it was the soldier type back during the war, might be missing a leg but he'd still give a beatdown to anyone who tried him. He's got his family working there as well, a wife and a particularly beautiful young daughter..." He smiled, giving Vex a knowing look. "Other than that, there are a pair of formidable looking bounty hunters worth worrying about. They had their payday chained to one of them, a man they called the Butcher of Brindlewood. It's a fair guess that the Butcher will take any opportunity to even the score, so the bounty hunter he's tethered to will have his hands full when we storm the place. The other one though will have to be dealt with quickly. Besides those three, there was a musician and a stable boy who looked fit enough to fair well in a fight, thought I'd put doubt to their experience."
Harlan rubbed at the stubble on his chin, searching his thoughts to find what he'd forgotten. The epiphany hit him, "There's also a stuck up whore with a mouth as loose as her cunt. She let slip there's a smugglers passage connecting the stables to the tavern through one of the stalls. It'd be an easy enough way in without being noticed."
He shrugged, turning his head to look at Tim, "Am I forgetting anything?"

"Think that's th' gist of it," Tim said. "There was three exits, besides the secret passage, so we'd 'ave to keep an eye on 'em all."

"So eight in total?" asked Vex, somewhat impressed they'd made it back with useful intel. "Six for us to deal with if the Butcher delivers."
She thought a while. Did the Butcher of Brindlewood ring any bells at all? "We block the exits and go in through the passage. Unless you want to do some intensive scrubbing until our game arrives, we round the family up in the basement under the pretence of a robbery," she said.

"Someone should stay outside to keep an eye on the road..." Boros didn't want to take part in that bloodshed, so he thought of offering himself to that watch. However, he soon gave up on the idea, considering that they'd need some manpower to deal with the bounty hunters. "Not me, my eyesight isn't as good as it used to be."
"You seem to have the strategy well covered, just point me who to smash and I will do so." He said, trenching his back and letting out a yawn.

"Think th' biggest problem will be that bounty 'unter," Tim remarked. "Seems like a man what knows 'ow to wield a sword. 'E won't be easy to scare, and we gotta find a way t' free th' butcher so 'e can keep that un busy. But I doubt rest o' em will put up much o' a fight."

"We'll throw the butcher a bone. If the bounty hunter hasn't killed him yet, he must be worth more to him alive and he might try the non-lethal approach first. Or he might just kill him. Either way, he'll have his hands full for a time."
She paused a second and nodded at Boros. "Good point. Once we're done securing the exits, Harlan will stand watch until we've bagged the inn. Boros and his hounds will help me round up the tavern folk while Sigfry tends to the butcher and his keeper. Here," she handed Sigfry one of the daggers from their pile of loot. "Toss this to the butcher and handle that trio. Tim will help you if needed."
"Tim," she said, looking to Tim. "Unless Sigfry needs help, you aim your spear at the stableboy and the other lad and usher them to the basement with the rest." She looked to all. "Let's keep the initial bloodbath to a minimum."
Unless anyone had further contributions or there were others coming towards the tavern, she gave the order to move out at nightfall.

Sigfry snatched the dagger, gloved hand almost grabbing the blade first as he quickly let go and sent the blade in a light tumble. A quick recovery later he grabbed the blades handle, rising back into a standing position as he slung the dagger into his belt.
"Get our new member outta his predicament...easy enough. Ill see it done." He said, stiffling a fake cough to cover the blush of almost stabbing his own hand and fumbling the blade.

“You must be out of your mind if you think I’m going to just stand outside and wait while you lot have all the fun.” Harlan looked at Vex like she was growing a second head. “I’m getting me a taste of that Innkeepers daughter.”
