After finishing the litter or failing at it, Nyles shakes his head to clear his vision then acknowledges his uncle. "Good here," he said, "but she needs a master." The adrenaline was fading but not done; he could feel the shakes threatening again. Richard puts a hand gently on his shoulder and speaks softly "Nyles, is it? Nephew, what happened here? I was with His Grace, how did this occur?"

He pointed to the wounded girl. "Thy thought her dress meant she was a Targaryen noble," he said. He looks around to see if any of the original three are left. "The Targaryens have to be killed," he said with determination. "Their being left alive nearly got Alice killed."

Nyles fashions a litter with little difficulty. Without saying a word, Lord Reyne takes the other end.
After tending to his family, the King converses with his Kingsguard in whispered tones.

The other two are currently kneeling with their hands up near the Warrior's statue.

The squire can't well carry Myrcella anywhere until they find a plan, so he takes his dagger and whistles tunelessly as he walks to them. "These two started it," he said emotionlessly. "So, one of you is about to get disemboweled," he promised the pair, "and one of you is going to tell me who had this little idea. and who got a little whisper in their ear from someone much smarter than you to try this little stunt." He tests the dagger's sharpness along the side of his finger.

"They're Targaryen supporters," said Harlan after attempting to help Alice to her feet. He scanned their surroundings once more and saw Nyles near the kneeling commoners with a blade in his hand. What was this little psychopath up to now? They had to leave.
Harlan turned to Fireball, having caught some of his earlier conversation with Ser Richard. "Lord Commander," he said. "If not a back exit, does the sept by any chance have tunnels we could use?" he inquired.

Richard closely examined the faces of the other kings guard at the mention of tunnels. They may be experts at killing, but subterfuge was probably not their forte. (Observation 46)

The sooty man saw an opportunity for a nice bit of propaganda and took it. "It were you lot that did this! All you tyrants and kinslayers! Daeron were a kind king. He looked after this city! Kept us fed and looked after all of his father's bastards! Never made us go to war until that cunt over there decided he wanted a crown..."
The one missing an eye and most of his teeth thanks to Gareth the Grey remained quiet, but appeared to be rethinking his commitment to the cause, staring ahead until something resembling hope arrived.
*** (Success. 1 Point awarded for observation to Richard.)
Fireball gave the sworn sword an annoyed look. "Where do you think we are, the Red Keep? This place was built by a holy man, not a paranoid maniac. What, you think a squeeze on the Maiden's tit will unlock a secret escape route?"
"Hawick is right." Said the King, to Fireball's surprise. "There is a tunnel. Baelor built it so that he and later kings might privately consult the High Septon. I've never seen it, but it'll be in the Most Devout quarters. Look for an alcove of some kind." Black Byren, rarely dropping his grin and quite enjoying his Lord Commander's dressing down of Ser Harlan, wavered in his good humor for just a flicker of a moment when Daemon mentioned the tunnel.
He turned to Flowers. "Gather the nobles and my family. Herd them downstairs." He frowned before ordering Hawick. "Bring me the ringleaders. Spare the rest. Take Ser Sebastian Florent and some of the other armed guests and... What in the Seven Hells is my squire doing?"

Despite his wounds and the direness of their situation, Ser Harlan was momentarily starstruck when the king spoke to him. He even knew his name...
He followed the king's gaze to Nyles. "Gathering the ringleaders, I believe," he quickly said, and gave the king a solemn nod. "It will be done, Your Grace."
After making sure Alice was safely off with the king's family and their guards, Harlan turned to follow the king's orders, almost slipping in a small pool of his own blood. He recovered quickly and made his way to Nyles and Gareth the Grey, beckoning Ser Sebastian and a couple of the nearest armed guests with him, assuming they'd heard the king.
"You and you," he said, pointing his blade at Sooty and One-Eye. "With us."

Nyles smiles at the man's rant. Talkers were good. He rose and pushed the two. He hands his knife back to Alice and turns to Ser Harlan. "Keep an eye on them; you're better with a sword than me," he said. He gives Myrcella a drink of water and lifts up his end of the litter. Like he'd disembowel people in front of the King...

Gareth left his red sword out, ready to kill either man if need be. Unlike his comrades in arms Black Byren and Fireball, Gareth rarely smiled, and had little use for mirth during or after battle. He looked up at the approaching knights. "Careful. Desperate fanatics are prone to suicide. I need to look after the royal family. Stay vigil." He gave a nod, which may have been a token of respect.
The two prisoners stood up. Only Sooty still seemed to have the will to fight, but made no effort to resist. Perhaps He equated the Black Cells with martyrdom.
Lord Arnold Reyne lifted the other end of the litter. "I owe you, Blackfort. House Reyne wasn't built on forgotten favors."

Nyles nods his acknowledgment politely. "My lord," he affirmed. He keeps his eyes where his feet are going; a slip could be fatal for the lady. Action was so much easier than the night when the dreams would come, the dreams that can't be fled or hidden from or bargained with or outwitted.

"I'll take this one," Harlan told Sebastian, grasping Sooty's collar and pushing him forward so that his 'prisoner' was walking in front of him. He looked to Florent to see if he'd secured One-Eye before starting to herd them after the others, presumably towards the Most Devout's quarters. He tried not to think about what was bound to happen to these men during interrogation.

Richard would take the rear of the group, twin swords drawn and ready.

There is a moment when Richard hears motion in the main chamber behind him, but when he looks back, he only sees the surviving rioters shuffling among the dead. A young boy is crying over the body of the hedge knight Richard himself killed, while several mourn the old woman who had sparked the violence to begin with. None make an effort to pursue the nobles.
The lower chambers are almost as chaotic. Septons and septas panic and pray and procrastinate taking any kind of real action in their own house. Many people are prayed at, which is like being blessed, only much more awkward. Nyles and Harlan are told the Seven should forgive their inadequacies. A few people, especially knights, don't take well to being called inadequate. By the time Richard reaches the holy hangers on, they're giving proper blessings. His is a lovely one involving the armed pilgrim defending the laws of gods and men in a strange land of killers and liars. Alice only gets a few utterances of "You poor thing!"
Fortunately, the other Kingsguard find the hidden passage without incident, thanks to the King's incredibly convenient knowledge of King's Landing architecture. The actual passage is narrow though, and guests must travel single file. It is a great relief that Lord Butterwell chose not to attend. The Lord Commander takes the lead, with Richard left to guard the rear.
There's little time to fashion torches for everyone though, so the entire trek is made in the dark for many people. Alice is handed one so she might light the way for her brother and Lord Reyne. Harlan has the especially uncomfortable position of being sandwiched between two dangerous men, with Ser Sebastian and a third knight on either end. One of them, presumably the otherwise silent One-Eye, keeps praying to the Mother in the dark.
Richard is left being the one to close the passage behind him. One of the last to go in before him is Danaerys Stone, otherwise known as Lady Florent. Her daughter quietly clings to her blue dress as she waits for the rest to make it through. She looked at the knight and asked, "Do you think my Tysha and I will be safe in there, Ser?' Her look suggests she is not looking for idle assurance, but the truth.
