"Nine generations, my lady, not including the family we claimeded the name and land from in Harren's time. My son Robert will be the tenth Nightgrove bearing my blood. The tower was here long before my ancestors set foot on this land, and a maester once told me it might be a souvenir of the Vance kings. Still... And I would not say it has been untouched. My brother and his wife were slain by Bracken scouts trying to claim the tower and thereby Lothston lands." His face turned to stone at the thought.
Ahead, Dacey could hear music playing and see several tents bearing the Goodbrook colors. A voice cried out, "Ser Jon brings armed strangers!"

"I am sorry to hear that. I had only meant the tower," said Dacey. Everyone had lost people in the war. "And it is a nice one," she added with a small smile. A year ago, her family'd had far less than that.
She looked to the tents and tried to determine whether any of the men were likely to be Lord Goodbrook or one of his sons. Roland had been entrusted with carrying the new Blackfort sigil, but then again, it was likely they'd not know it anyhow.

Ser Jon called out, "This is Lady Dacey Blackfort, my Lord Belric's own sister!" Dacey knew on sight these men were veterans, not by their diverse livery, but by the looks in their eyes. A grim acceptance something terrible was about to happen. One of them, a gaunt man with the sigil of a black snake over a green field, unnocked his bow before declaring, "Our Lord is in the tower. He will be down shortly." ![](http://www.themoviescene.co.uk/reviews/_img/235-2.jpg)

"Always ready, I see," she said. Her own weirwood bow was fastened about her saddle. She dismounted and gave her horse a pat on the neck before stepping forward to get a better look at the men and wait for Goodbrook's arrival. "I'm afraid I don't recognize your banner, ser...?"

"Ser Randall Fisk." Whispered the man Dacey had surely never met. "And you have matured since Redgrass, but I remember you very well, Dacey Blackfort."
Other men were starting at her very keenly now with looks of recognition, though none drew arms.

Dacey looked at the rest of the men and realized she'd killed a lot of their friends. She turned back to Ser Randall. "It is good to meet under better circumstances, don't you find?" she said evenly.

"Better for whom, my lady?" Before Dacey could respond, the Lord Goodbrook himself appeared on foot in common clothes. The lady recognized him immediately from several tourneys she had watched in her youth. Though average height, he was built like a bear with thick black hair and beard, and muscled arms that seemed to drag him closer to the earth. His speaking voice boomed over the encampment, a virtue on the battlefield but a nuisance in polite conversation. "Lady Blackfort." He looked past her in expectation. "Am I to understand you are the sole member of your house to greet us?" ![](http://dvdmedia.ign.com/media/reviews/image/410henryvexeter005.jpg)

She turned to the approaching lord instead of replying. "Lord Goodbrook," she greeted, looking him in the eye. "I am indeed. My brother Belric returned from Riverrun only this morning. He is making preparations to give you a proper greeting at the castle," she said, pretty sure Belric was doing no such thing. "I trust your wife fares better?" she inquired.

He nodded, accepting the logical explanation. "Aye, my Elsie is stronger every morning. I thank good Ser Jon here for his hospitality. Your man has saved my very life and soul, and I owe him a great debt for it." He spoke of his wife in the same tones most men address the Iron Throne.
"Merely fulfilling my vow to the Maiden, my lord." Said Nightgrove modestly.

"That is good to hear," she said with a nod, looking from Ser Jon to Lord Goodbrook. "Do you believe she will be fit to travel soon? Harrenhal is not far. Our maester would gladly offer you his assistance," she said, unaware whether the Goodbrooks had brought any healers along or not.

He nodded to Ser Randall, who signaled to the others to prepare for departure. He moved towards Dacey and asked, "Is your Maester by chance Percival Lannister?"

"He is," she confirmed with an even face, waiting for his reaction. She had a good guess what it was gonna be. "Do you know him, my lord?"

"No. I don't keep company with pillowbiters. And neither will my wife. But I appreciate the gesture, my lady." He bowed his head before returning to preparations.
Ser Jon came as close to rolling his eyes as he could without starting a war. "Well... He appreciates the gesture."

Percival was... a what? Dacey was about to reason that it would have been smart to have a maester take a look at Lady Goodbrook regardless of Lord Goodbrook's convictions, but he'd already made off. Perhaps it was for the best, anyway.
She exchanged a knowing glance with Ser Jon. "Well. At least we'll be out of your hair," she said once Goodbrook had reached a certain distance. "I thank you again for the hospitality you've shown them."

"And I thank you for the grain and meat, my lady. I was worried that we would have problems making it through the winter when this lot arrived." Dacey was soon approached by a tall, broad shouldered man with no hair but an impressive squint Ser Jon muttered, "Ser Robert Goodbrook, one of the sons." Robert's voice was as harsh as his father's and reeked of time among the lower class, but his words were carefully selected. "My lady. On behalf of my mother, I wish to thank you for attending to us. It is a great honor to make your house's acquaintance." He then bowed. Sort of. It was clearly not something he did regularly. ![](http://cdn.collider.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/galavant-vinnie-jones-5.jpg)
