"Of course," she told Ser Jon, wondering if these few sacks of grain and a deer were really going to cut it. Goodbrooks had probably eaten more. "Do you think you can manage now? I'll see if I can't send you more when I return to Harrenhal."
She turned to the bald man, grateful for Ser Jon's assistance. "Ser Robert," she greeted with a nod. "It is no bother. Likewise. I hear your family is quite fearsome on the battlefield."

"Yes, milady, as is your own." Ser Robert seemed to respond well to flattery. "I hope one day to claim as pretty a tune as 'The Demon on Weeping Ridge' for my own house. No offense, but it's a great relief to know the blacks didn't give Harrenhal to a treasonous cunt like Butterwell. I wouldn't trust that cocksucker with my horse, much less my land. Pardon my Rhoynar, milady." Another awkward bow.

Any flattery had been accidental. "I wouldn't trust him with my horse, either. He'd likely eat it," she deadpanned, remembering the obese lord and his unpleasant manners from the king's feast.

Robert laughed. "Aye, and then complain you failed to provide the adequate spice!"
Ser Randall stood nearby, leaning on his longbow. "We should be ready to leave in an hour, Ser Robert, and I think your horse is going to trample your squire if you don't tend to them both. Besides..." While addressing the Goodbrook, his eyes were directed at the Blackfort. "There will be plenty of time for talk of traitors on the road to Harrenhal."
"That boy. He can polish and cook, but he can't ride for shit. Well..." Another awkward bow. "I hope to entertain your company soon, my lady."
(You have two choices. You can choose to continue RPing in Nightgrove, and get to know the various major NPCs running around, or we can RP the trip itself back. However, I can't RP your return until the Unlucky Crab business is completed.)

Dacey nodded to Ser Robert as he left and looked around, unsure what to do next. She once again turned to Ser Jon. "Perhaps you could tour me your lands in the meantime?" she inquired, having to kill that hour somehow.

"Of course." Ser Jon lead her to the tower itself, and dismounted. A boy took the reins from him. "My squire Joffrey. He hopes to be the next Richard Blackfort." Joffrey blushed, making his redheaded skull look like an evening sunset.

"That's a nice goal to have," she said, looking to the boy and sizing him up. "I've been thinking about getting an apprentice myself," she told Ser Jon, and turned briefly to inspect the tower.

The tower was half as tall as any of the standing Harrenhal towers, but just as wide. She could make out strange carvings in the stone far above her head, encircling the castle. They might tell a story, but they did not seem legible from this angle.
Following her line of sight, Ser Jon offered, "A Maester recorded the entire thing with a spyglass and some ink and paper. It's the tale of how the Andals came and civilized this land. Claimed it from the wildlings and pixies and dreaming sorcerers. That's why the Maester thought it might belong to the Vances, whose kingdom used to cover this area. The trouble is..." Jon paused in reflection. "My father once wrote to the current Lord Vance's father about this tower. Asked him to consult his own Maester or family charts about any details. Who had held it, for how long, how it fell into Ironborn hands. And I got the most peculiar answer."
He looked up at the tower that blotted out the sun. "They'd never heard of the place. Not even in passing."

Dacey looked to the man briefly as he spoke, mainly trying to decide if he really believed the Andals had civilized them. She turned back to the markings after the last bit. "Odd," she commented, stepping a little closer in an attempt to make something out.

(Failed)
She finds it difficult to make out even the markings Ser Jon has described for her. Instead, her eyes are drawn to a pale woman with dark hair and a blue dress looking back down on her from a high window.
"The Lady Goodbrook." Confirmed Ser Jon. "I have not heard her speak more than four words to any of my people, including myself. Usually communicates with the world through her husband or sons. Not sure if it's mere infirmity or something else."

Dacey looked up at her for a while before turning once more to Ser Jon, now for some reason not too keen on entering the tower. "And what do you make of all this?" she asked as if Lady Goodbrook hadn't even been brought up. "You must have some theory as to why no one'd ever heard of your home."

"Well... My family claimed it when Harren and his sons were burned alive. My ancestor slew the old knight who once held court here. And the Hoares ruled here for a long time, with their reach extending from Bear Island to the Citadel. So I have a suspicion what we're seeing might be a dress rehearsal for your own home, either by Harren or his forefathers. But Hoare employed Archmaesters to design his castle. The Maester I consulted said he had no record of anyone from the Citadel ever building such a monstrosity." He hesitated before pressing his hand to the tower wall. "Touch it, my lady, and you'll notice something even queerer."

"Perhaps it's been struck from the records. Or someone is lying," she offered, looking to the wall for a brief moment before deciding to humour the knight. She reached out a hand to touch the wall.

In the middle of winter, enveloped by the tower's cooling shade, Dacey's fingers touched warm stone.

Dacey gave Ser Jon a puzzled look and moved her hand up along the surface of the wall as if to make sure it was warm all over. "Is there something under the tower? A hot spring?" she inquired, having heard of such phenomenon up North, but never this far below the Neck.
