"Well, now that you mention it.. Dacey, Gerdy, and I went on our bear hunt. We successfully captured a cub, but came under attack from a pack of wolves. We suffered two casualties; one guard who died in the initial fight, and Gerdy, who is missing. She decided to pursue the pack of wolves, alone. Other than Edmure's almost-a-war, I believe that is the bad news." Jormun keeps his attention focused on Belric, careful to avoid any potential shrapnel.
"Oh, and I would like to discuss plans for our bear pit when this is over."

"Who in the seven hells is Gerdy?" Belric asked, never having had the pleasure of making Gerdy's acquaintance. "Accompany me on a hunt tomorrow. We can talk about the pits, and a certain request I have for you."

Jormun nods to his brother. "Of course. Gerdy was our kennelmaster, as short-term as the position was. I've inherited the duties again following her disappearance and likely demise."

For the second time in a few minutes, Edmure raised an eyebrow at Jormun's "almost a war" comment.
"My 'almost-a war' is bad news?" he remarked nonchalantly to his half-brother, twirling the stem of his cup in between fingers. "I wouldn't think so. A very satisfactory outcome for Harrenhal - and to give credit where credit's due, one that you had no small hand in bringing about."

"Perhaps we can find another kennel master." he replied. Instead of delving deeper into the discussion, Belric decided to hold is tongue and see if Jormun had a rebuttal for Edmure.

Aelison listened to the men as she entered the hall, dressed in brown leathers, boots and a white shirt. Daisy trotted lightly beside her and sat, once she started to speak to her Lord cousin. "Excuse me, cousin but I remained after Gerdy left for the hunt... I assumed her duties."
"I would like to continue to do so, if it please you."

Willis spoke up. "It turned out well for Harrenhal because Jormun had the balls to ignore your orders, and then kill a fuckin' giant. Don't pretend that outcome was your fuckin' doin', Ed. It was in spite of you and Willem, not because of you."

Jormun nods to Willis, then gives a slight shrug. "Under your command, a knight was killed and a war was almost started. I championed our cause because the Blackfort name and the security of our lands was in danger. If you believe that outcome is satisfactory because we got to stick our name on a tiny village, you are a fool. There were ways to settle it without blood, and instead, you have made enemies that will not forget what happened there just because I won the duel. You lack vision of the long term." Jormun keeps his tone matter-of-fact as he speaks, as though everything he's said should be painfully obvious to everybody else.

Percival snorted loudly as Jormun spoke. Finally, one of these bumpkins did not need to use his toes to count to twenty. He would have voiced agreement but that surely would have made Belric take the other side just to be spiteful.
The Maester turned to look at Eddy the sheep. Now would come the endless bleeting about how none of it was his fault and how his brave deeds had saved everything. No matter that every other member of the court called him a fool . Percival yawned deeply in preparation the diatribe.

Edmure continued to twirl his cup lazily, looking quite unconcerned.
"Indeed Jormun? And how would you have settled it 'without blood' as you say? The Piper knight killing was most unfortunate, but it happened, and we found a way past that. Should we have allowed Smallwood the village, once that happened? War would have been the easy option in some respects but I did my best to avoid that. Perhaps, if my actions in this matter concern you so, you should not have involved yourself and Willem should have fought instead, as we had arranged."
He looked pointedly at Willis. "Or perhaps someone else might have volunteered."
He chuckled, took a sip of wine, smiling broadly. "And given the circumstances Willem fighting the duel would have been most fitting. But no matter. We have the village and the dispute is settled once and for all, before the Gods. No one on our side died. Vance will swear fealty. His people are fed for the winter. Smallwood knows we are not to be trifled with.
He raised his cup in a mock toast. "Peace reigns - at least for the moment. It's all good news."

Jormun is silent for several moments, desperately trying to comprehend the words he actually heard spoken. He tries to convince himself he was incorrect, but his anger quickly rises as he realizes what Edmure just said."No, it is not 'no matter', you damned fool. You have put the name of this House, the security of these lands, and the lives of these people on the line with your idiotic actions and you cannot be bothered to even care. You are a piss poor Castellan and an even worse representation of our family. That Willem stands beside your actions is a show of loyalty, not evidence that you were right in your path."

Edmure rose from his chair, his own anger sparking into life. While he was slower to anger than Belric, he could be equally as volcanic in temper.
"My idiotic actions? And what were they? I'll ask again. What would YOU have done Jormun? Give us all the benefit of your experience."

"I would have taken the time to think before I spoke so things did not get out of hand, and lives lost. By trusting the good judgement of our brother, I understand that you are Castellan, but by the nature of your actions, you are no man I would ever obey. You cannot rely on others to kill a knight for you forever; or a bear."

Edmure laughed derisively. "I wondered how long the bear would take to come up again. Conveniently forgotten now that I also helped kill it?"
He looked at Jormun somewhat incredulously, his anger still rising. The man couldn't even articulate what particular actions of Edmure's were so wrong. It was just the usual generalities and vagueness.
"So, is that it? You would have taken the time to think, before you spoke? Make this man the Castellan, Belric! He would have taken the time to think before he spoke!"
He pointed a finger at Jormun. "And what the fuck would you know what was spoken and what wasn't, the first time we were at the bridge? Were you there?"

"Brothers, enough!" Barked Belric. "Nyles is dead, this is not the time."
First he spoke directly to Jormun, "Put this business with the bear behind you. We played the right hand, regardless of what the cards were. Though don't think it is lost on me that our victory lies on the tip of your spear."
Belric turned to Edmure, "And you, that will be enough of the excuses. You can argue for your own cause all you'd like, but that doesn't mean others will follow. Starting thinking about how others perceive your actions, the opinions of the men you lead matter."
