Still waiting for her Lord cousin's response, Aelison stared at the arguing men, leaning against the doorway and remained silent until she saw a moment to speak again. "Excuse me gentlmen...", looking at Lord Belric,"Would you like for me to continue the job of Kennel Mistress or not? I would, but again cousin, it's up to you."

Belric turned to Edmure, "And you, that will be enough of the excuses. You can argue for your own cause all you'd like, but that doesn't mean others will follow. Starting thinking about how others perceive your actions, the opinions of the men you lead matter." Edmure dashed his cup to the ground in fury at Belric's words. He had a temper that at its worst could match Belric's and he wasn't going to be lectured to by his brother in public over Armistead's Crossing, - Lord or not - especially when Belric had already approved what he had done at the Gate. The public lack of support now, was particularly galling. "Excuses? I'm not offering fucking excuses Belric! I don't give a fuck how others, who are meant to obey, perceive my actions. I make no apology whatsoever for what I did in the matter of Armistead's Crossing. If you find fault with any of my actions in that matter, Belric, say them now!"

"You those that a meant to obey simply do so? Funny to hear that coming from a dirt born knight like yourself. Perception is everything. We have to show everyone that we are supposed to be here, and lead properly, otherwise they will look at us the same way our dear maester does." Belric was clearly upset by how blatant his brothers disregard had been. "Do not snap at me again Edmure, I said nothing to question your actions in my absence. When I lecture you to earn the respect of your men, you respond 'yes m'lord,' and say nothing else." He stared down Edmure. "Is that understood?"

Join Jormun and I tomorrow on our hunt, we can get reacquainted."

Jormun bowed to his brother, turning to greet the new arrival that was apparently to be his new kennel master. The grin at Belric and Edmure's clash isn't hidden very well. "Our new kennel master? Excellent. My falcon does not like the hounds much, so I've had to split attentions."

With his blood up, Edmure stared right back at Belric. He could be as stubborn as Belric. Even though they physically looked different with Edmure slighter than his physically imposing brother, in many ways they were very alike in temperament.
"Of course you are questioning my actions. You lecture me on making excuses, when I have made none and then you lecture me how I need to earn the respect of my men. Tell me Belric...what have I done exactly to lose the respect of my men? Don't give me the usual vague generalities that these do. Be specific."

I would be missed." Aelison smiled,"It was father's idea, and you and him seem to agree on that point but he also said since I didn't want to be someone's wife, I can work for you." "And a hunt would a good idea. I would like to hear the war stories directly for the source and not from someone else for a change", she smiled again. "We can accommodate your falcon, cousin. I'm not much for hawking but I will see what I can do." The tension was still think in the room, Edmure looked like he was about to burst,"I will leave you boys to it then...", she nodded to them with a smile and departed. Behind her, she could hear Edmure talking in a raised voice to his brother.

"Your own brother is standing here contesting the legitimacy of your actions." Belric replied, pointing with an open hand to Jormun as if to say the answer to Edmure's question was obvious. "Why do you have to make an issue of everything, dear brother? You could have simply heeded my instruction, yet you continue to argue."

Edmure shook his head in disbelief. Could not Belric think for himself?
"So you think what you do, because Jormun says it is so. Is that the reason? Upon what basis does Jormun contest the legitimacy of my actions, Belric? Do you know? Do you support him? All I've heard is some pithy statement about thinking before I spoke. Our brother can't even properly articulate the reasons for why I'm supposedly....what was it again...a 'piss poor Castellan'. If I'm such a 'piss poor Castellan' who, as you said, makes excuses and needs to earn the respect of the men which apparently I don't have, then replace me, Belric."
He looked Belric in the eye, his face set. "If you think that, do it now! Here, in front of everyone."

Jormun turns to those gathered once again, noting the need to speak to Aelison further soon. He glances over to Dacey, shaking his head slowly as Edmure's tirade continues.

Percival listened to the two brothers argue with a wry grin that only widened as they grew louder. He barked a single loud laugh at Edmure's last words. "Calling you a piss poor Castellon is an insult to piss." He smirked at his own wit. "If we are planning to discuss the many flaws Edmure Blackfort at every meeting , I am going to start asking to be absent. I grow board of the repetition." Percival stifled a large yawn.

Edmure turned on the Maester in fury.
"And what the fuck would you know of my flaws anyway, Percy?" he snarled derisively. "You can't even recognise your own. Your nose is too high in the air for you to see anything but the roof."
He turned back to Belric. "Well?"

"Don't let the maester get to you, he is only trying to instigate." He fought down the urge to laugh, there was something quite comical about Percival's comments when they were directed at someone else. "I will not go through this with you again, Edmure. You are this castle's Castillion, and lucky that the choice is mine and not Jormun's. The situation is resolved, and in my opinion there were far too few of Smallwood's men put to the sword."

Edmure snorted in disgust at his brother's words, still fuming at Belric's public lecture and his lack of support. He wondered if Jormun would accuse Belric of a lack of thinking for the long term, with the Lord of Harrenhal having just expressed a wish for the death of more of Smallwood's men. Somehow he doubted it. The irony. Edmure had tried to avoid exactly what Belric wished for and yet the deaths of only two of their opponents was what Jormun was at the same time condemning him for.
"Too bad you didn't say that at the start, Belric." he spat out between clenched teeth. "And 'lucky'? Not a word I would have used. Give Jormun the castellanship. Or our maester. They both seem to think they could make a better fist of the job than I can."

Dacey, who'd observed the scene quietly from the sidelines, bit down the smirk tugging at a corner of her mouth as she caught Jormun's glance, slightly amused at the recurring scene coupled with the absurdity of their cousin joining them in the middle of Edmure's fit and asking for the kennelmaster position, and culminating with one of Percival's remarks.
She sighed after Edmure continued to throw around the castellanship and fish for Belric's acknowledgement, just like he had the last time.
"I don't have time for this," she said, turning to Belric. "Unless you have something else you wish to discuss, I should be off to fetch your vassal." Preferrably before he eats the flesh off your knight's bones, she thought.
