Percival looked at Edmure with scorn. "You condemn yourself with your own words. Only a fool would give me the command for any length of time. Like you I have diarrhea of the mouth, and almost no respect of the soldiers of Harrenhal. They would resent my command and look to undermine me constantly, something else we share. There are a few areas I would succeed but all of my knowledge can easily be shared with any leader who is willing to actually listen to advice." The Maester shrugged and looked to Jormun, "As to whether he would be a good Castellan who can say but he would certainly be better than you. That is not exactly a high bar to clear."

Willis did his best to keep his laughter at the Maester's insults silent. His best wasn't very good.

Her face damp from her early bout of weeping. Violet listened to the quarrel with horror, rooted to her seat. She didn't really want to listen to the quarrel but nor did she want her absence to be noticed. And since she was already present, it seemed wise to see how matters fell out. But she wished her brothers had the sense to quarrel in private, and not in front of members of the household.

The Maester shrugged and looked to Jormun, "As to whether he would be a good Castellan who can say but he would certainly be better than you. That is not exactly a high bar to clear." "Hear that Belric?" replied Edmure, his voice heavy with sarcasm. "More sage advice from our Maester. He advises that a scout be made Castellan instead of myself. That's the standard of 'advice' he provides. About the same low standard as his insults." He looked around at his family - such as they were. Most of them hostile. Belric indifferent. Violet weeping. There was clearly no future for him here. He gave a heavy sigh with a mixture of resignation, disgust and disappointment before stalking off.

Jormun tsks quietly as he watches Edmure depart, a small shake of his head following. "Scout? Rude."

"Do not listen to the maester, he gets more enjoyment out of this than you do anger." It was frustrating for Belric having to continue appeasing his brother's short temper, the man had grown defensive since arriving in Harrenhal. "Jormun is Master of the Hunt for good reason, and will remain as such. Percival is... well," he looked to the maester. "He's better than us so he does what he wants." The words were marinated in sarcasm. "We all have our duties to Harrenhal."
Belric watched his only surviving true born brother turn his back back and walk out on the family. He credited it to the death of Nyles, hoping Edmure would come around.
Turning his attention to the group, he gained his composure. "I will be putting together a party to rid the Lordship of Shoreham of it's bandit problem. Who's up for the task of leading the excursion?"

"If you would have me, I would like to hunt down these bandits. They pose a threat to our peace and our people. They also scare away all of the good game." Jormun gives a slight grin with his final statement.

"I'll go as well. Still a bit sore from the last bandit hunt," he patted gently at one of his slowly healing wounds, "but I wasn't made to sit in a keep while others have all the fun."

"I would like to go as well," she said, giving Willis a stern look as if to warn him already not to repeat his dumb antics at the quarry. "Jormun and I work well together."

"Very well. Jormun and Willis will take a guard south to Lord Shoreham's lands to take care of these brigands. Dacey, since you have so graciously volunteered, you will go fetch Lord Goodbrook." He stared at each of them, his gaze serious. "All of you will do well to mind your manners and deal with each situation diplomatically. We are going to need all the allies we can in the coming months. Civil war within these lands would cripple us."

"What," said Dacey, "I'm fetching Goodbrook today. I can make it back in time for the bandit hunt."

"There will always be another bandit hunt, sister." Said Belric dolefully. "I have too few soldiers at my command, and would rather not send you all to handle the same task."

Jormun frowns slightly as Dacey is denied joining them, having already found himself comfortable alongside his favorite sibling in combat. "Of course. We will set out as soon as I speak with the maester about my injuries. How many men do you want us to take for the hunt?"

"Take twenty men with you." He replied. "But do not depart before coming to find me."
To Dacey, Belric continued, "If you want to go, then go." Considering their history together, and the times Dacey had saved his ass, Belric could hardly deny her.

"Very well," said Dacey with a nod, lightening up a little. "I'd best be off, then. Bring you more men to command," she added to Belric in passing, quite happy with the outcome of this meeting. She'd finally been relieved of the tedious paperwork commanding a castle entailed, Edmure had once again gotten served, and she was going bandit hunting with Jormun. "Don't leave without me," she told Jormun, giving him one of her rare smiles, and left the hall.
