"We will need every last one," he said in retort.
His attention turn back towards the maester, whom still looked quite comfortable and unconcerned by Belric's request. "Do you not have ravens to send?"

Jormun smiles back to Dacey, looking over to the maester afterwards. "I, obviously, need to speak with you at your convenience. I do not believe I am seriously injured, but my opinion is not yours."

Percival raised an eyebrow at Belric. "Do you have any details on the tournament? Like the timing. Most lords want to know when a thing is. Also the prizes. If you want any to bother to attend you will need to announce the prize." He rubbed his brow with his hand.

Shit, thought Belric, not having considered the Maester's questions. He bluffed. "We will be ready in two months time. Purses for the champions. Four hundred gold for the joust, two hundred for archery and the same for the melee."

Percival raised both his eye brows as Belric finished speaking. He smirked slight and spoke sarcastically, "400 gold... well we will have knights traveling from all across the land for such a princely sum. The name Belric Blackfort will soon be equated with generosity and largesse." He crooked his head as if asking if his Lord was quite serious.

Belric was serious, having decided he would stick with his bluff. "Not all of us have pockets as deep as the Lannisters."

"Of course. I am sure there are more then enough knights willing to risk life and limb for that amount." Percival paused for a moment and stared at Lord Piggy. He took a deep breath and then asked the Blackfort, "Do you know why the Lannister's give such a large prize? The other lords and ladies will judge the strength of your based on small details just like this. I do not know the state of your house's..." he sighed and amended, "Our House's finances but you should award as much coin as we can spare."
Percival felt ill after giving honest advice to this brutish pig. The measure wondered if Belric would smash in the face or maybe choke him into unconsciousness. He hated this man with such a great passion.

He hated this man with such a great passion. (These purse numbers were decided by the Gambler, FYI. But I assume regardless, Percival wouldn't be impressed with whatever Belric says.) "That is a fair amount, my well-to-do maester," he said, undisturbed by Percival's tone. "Men will compete for far less than gold, the purse is only an excuse."

Percival turned and walked from the room silently.

"Could sweeten the pot some," Willis added as the maester left, "Throw a title or two in. Winner of the joust gets to be knight of whichever tower you like. Maybe the melee, too."

"That depends on what sort of people you are hoping to attract. The title of Knight of Whatever Tower as a boon will depend entirely on if the person competing wishes to gain that title, for those who are already knighted that is no draw at all." Saesha pointed out, her voice tired at the fighting.

"Exactly," Belric said in concurrence with Saesha. "No noble born knight is going to give two shits about a tower. Gold will do just fine. Four hundred pieces is a small fortune, more than enough for a champion." He looked at where the Maester had been sitting, distain in his voice. "Regardless of our house's lowly stature."

"Well I don't know that I agree with that." Willis replied, scratching at his beard. "As a knight who's ostensibly noble born, but poor as dirt except on your sufferance, I can think of quite a lot of others in similar situations who'd give a fair sight more than two shits for a tower. And a tower of Harrenhal ain't exactly your standard, run of the mill tower. Shit, one floor's bigger than what most wealthy knights can lay claim to."

"You want a tower, Willis?" Belric asked, his brow raising inquisitively.

"That is true, which is why I said it depends who you want. Offering a tower would mean either only knights with no holdings would attend, as they would be the on,pky ones to gain, or you have a noble who wins and can either put anyone they wish in the station or would get nothing." She replied. "We should rather look at this as an opportunity to vet any potential knights who are perhaps in need of a house to serve so we can choose who best to give such a position too, after all, who wins may not be someone we would want to give such an office too."
