Violet nodded and stayed behind Edmure. Her heart began to race with anxiety.

"And why the fuck not?" Willis asked the man on the other side of the door, gesturing toward it with his axe. "Seems to me it'd suit me just fine to hack that door down along with the bastard behind it."

"Prove your words, and let me through so I can meet with Ser Bruce. The new Lord of Harrenhal has arrived to take hold of this castle." Belric withheld the fact that he was indeed the man of which he spoke, still uncertain of the soldier behind the door and his intentions.

"Because there's ten of us in this here tower for every one of you, armed and armored, knights who know how to use them," Ser Harrys replied, as if that were the dumbest question he had ever heard in his life. "You ever fight up stairs, mate?"
"And I'm Queen Nymeria herself, don't you know," the knight replied to Belric.

"Tis' tha' fello' Harrys, innit?" Hoster came forth, recognizing the voice as that of one of the men they'd met in the previous afternoon. "We met yesterday, in da Yard... Ah was the one ta tell you not ta move, we're not with the o'er fellow who wan' ta kill ye." As he was not drunk, because of that fucking cunt in the inn, Hoster was not in his usual "I'm going to gut you like a pig" state.

Yoren held his hammer in both hands, resting it on his shoulder as he looked to the man. He was pretty sure his name wasn't fonze, but he couldn't be sure.
"We want to see Bruce Whent. Harrenhal's got a new lord, courtesy of the king himself." Yoren stated flately as he took a step out of the way of the eyehole to show Belric Blackfort. "Let us in, and maybe we can sort out the mess with the Wailing tower lot and yourselves."

"You fucks said you were merchants!" Ser Harrys called back, clearly not a fan of being lied to. "How am I to believe you now?"

"You got some papers to show this fuck, Bel? A deed or some shit?" Willis asked Belric, before adding, "Assuming he ever learned to read."

Belric was not one for sarcasm, "I am Belric Ravensbane, Knight of the Black Gate, Slayer of Sorcerers and Lord of Harrenhal by decree of King Daemon Blackfyre." Belric backed up from the oak door, creating distance so the knight could see the sigil across his chest. "A man of the Riverlands would know of my legend. There is no number of stairs, nor armed men, that will keep me from my duty. Unlock this door."

Yoren stood where he stood and held his tounge, letting those smarter then him do the talking. If need be, he'd be ready to slam this door down.

There was a long pause as Ser Harrys processed this information. It was not every day you had a living legend yelling at you.
"Alright, alright, I'll open up and let Whent sort you out," he relented, as they heard the bar on the other side lift and an iron key inserted in the lock. Before it turned, he added. "But you can pass those papers through if they're real and you'll throw your weapons on the ground. Toss 'em over by the dead bitch."

"I would sooner strip naked, considering the death that sits at my back. As you said, there are ten of you for every one of us, the odds are in your favor Ser. Honor me as your new Lord and let us pass with our weapons. Or, Ser Bruce can come and treat with us here... in the doorway." Belric was not threatening, nor condescending. He had lived the life of the knight before him, and respected the mans principal.

"Then it seems we're at an impasse, Ravensbane," Ser Harrys called back, and they heard the key being removed from the door. "The writ and your weapon or you can rot out there with the corpses."

"No," said Belric, "You know who I am, and you know my intentions. I on the other hand don't even know your name. What proof do I have that Ser Bruce still lives, and that you are not traitorous mutineers?" Belric withdrew the writ and offered it to the knight. "Take this to your commander, if he wishes to speak with his Lord, he can come invite me in himself. If not, I will assume you are all turncoats and burn this tower to the ground."

There was a long silence again, though this time likely at the stupidity of that threat.
"You know what keep you're standing in right, milord?" Ser Harrys asked, with at least a hint of respect in the title. "Best of luck with that."
Still, he took the writ and they heard his boots clomp off into the distance. It was a solid hour before they heard them come back, the group waiting in the stench of the great hall. They heard the door unlock and it swung open.
"I'm to escort you up for an audience with Ser Bruce," Ser Harrys said, finally standing in front of them without a door blocking the way. "Careful, it's a long climb."
