Belric did as the escort suggested, pacing himself as he followed up the stairs.

Edmure was uncertain whether he should follow, but Belric had not commanded him to do so and his sister and the others were still waiting. Neverthless he was uneasy at the thought of his brother at the mercy of this Whent. He had evidently murdered his liege lady earlier, so why not the new Lord of Harrenhal.

Edmure watched Yoren and Willas climb the stairs after Belric. He leaned in towards Violet and whispered in her ear.

Dacey entered the hall a few hours later, curious to see whether the scene had really been left unaltered for so long after the gruesome incident.

After her misadventure in the bathhouse and outside her brother's bedchamber, Violet headed to the hall. Once here, she spotted Dacey,
"Sister," she greeted, a little wary, since they barely knew one another these days. "What do you make of this place? I thought the tales of the curse were just silly stories, but I've since decided the curse must be real after all."

Dacey had stopped quite near the entrance, trying to get accustomed to the horrid smell of rotting flesh. Her eyes began to water.
She turned around at the sound of Violet's footsteps before she even spoke up. The right side of her face looked like it had very recently been the victim of a frenzied bird. "It's... lovely," she deadpanned. Beneath the corpses, she had no doubt it would be. It was easily the biggest hall she'd ever been in.
"I mean, it could be," she said, turning round again, and started towards the other end of the hall now that she was a little more used to the stench. "Why are these bodies still here?" she asked, from no one in particular.

"I wish I knew. We should....I don't know, find someone to get rid of them. And give them a decent burial." She hesitated. "Or burn them, that might be the safest way to be rid of the evil."
Violet sighed. "I didn't think we'd be making our home in a place like this. I miss Harroway's Town, truly. This place is just horrid. I keep thinking I will get lost at any moment, and it's so dreary, isn't it?"

Dacey nodded and kept moving towards the dais.
"We should burn them," she agreed, glancing over her shoulder. She hadn't expected Violet to follow her, but the hall was empty and large enough for their voices to carry easily. In the last five years, Dacey had gotten so used to the road and camps that she didn't really share her sister's sentiment. Black Gate had definitely been a nicer place, though. "The castle, it's... definitely something. What did you make of the trial?" she asked.

Violet took a moment to reflect. "It's hard to believe the Father Above truly judged that man innocent, after everything that was said. But if this place is truly cursed, perhaps the gods favour the wicked. And yet, something had to be done, an the castle is ours now. That's something."
But she didn't sound happy about it and was in fact wishing herself back in Harroway's Town. "I hope this place can be made habitable again. I wonder, perhaps there are other dining halls. There must be, this place is so big! Perhaps we should find another to suggest to Belric, because I expect it will take a lot of work to clean this one."

"I suppose the trial could not have been avoided," admitted Dacey finally, stopping at the dais. She presumed the head on the silver platter had previously belonged to Lady Lothston. "The castle is ours, but the people were still wronged."
She stared at the table for a while, thinking. Perhaps there was a way, after all. Not nearly as satisfying as killing Ser Simon would have been, but the gods had spoken. Or perhaps they had not, and this was all just a big joke for them. Either way, this would have to suffice.
"There must be others. I'll gladly go looking for them with you, but on the morrow," she said, her mind currently elsewhere. Why was her little sister wandering the halls of this strange castle in the dark in the first place?
She found a relatively clean cloth napkin from the table and wrapped it around Lady Lothston's head. She picked it up and started back towards Violet.
"There is something I must do first. Can I borrow your horse? One of Hoster's men stole mine," she told her, stopping about halfway through the hall to yank a spear out of one of the corpses.

"Of course," Violet replied. "What do you want to do? Is it dangerous?"

"No," she replied, and had a small grateful smile for her sister, almost as if she wasn't carrying a (carefully packaged) rotting head under her arm. "I will take Lady Lothston to her final resting place," she said once she'd reached her.
"Come now. You should get some rest," said Dacey, who had been awake for over 48 hours now. "Did you already find quarters somewhere?" she inquired, stepping out of the hall.
