Belric got up from his chair when Violet entered the room, he grunted through the pain in his side. With open arms he embraced her in a brotherly hug. "I am happy to see you well sister. I have been nursing my own injuries, and have not been well enough to see you." His expression grew serious, "I am regretfull for what happened to Edmure. To learn that he died in your arms weighs heavy on me. Though, I know he loved you, and without doubt would have sacrificed his own life to save yours. Perhaps, he was even able to redeem himself before the end." He rubbed her shoulders assuringly, and offered her a seat.
When Ser Malcom arrived, Belric grabbed him by the arm and shook it eagerly. "Your courage proceeds you, Ser. I cannot thank you enough for saving my sister. You shall be rewarded for your bravery." He slapped the man on the shoulder in good spirit. "Please, sit. We have much to discuss."

Violet smiled at Belric but she was clearly much disturbed by her recent experiences.
"Thank you," she said quietly. "I owe Ser Malcolm my life. I am sorry that you are hurt as well. We seem to be unlucky, lately. I'm grateful for all your loyal service to the king has brought us, but I miss the days when the world was a happier and simpler place."

"You are the only one that remembers such days." Belric replied sympathetically. "My youth was riddled with war and death, now is no different."
"I will admit Harrenhal has not been good to our family. The loss of two brothers is nothing to take litely. Though, I cannot blame a castle for our misfortune, it is the criminals and Targaryan rebels that have brought death to our door.". He cross his arms, "And now, our own cousin has been taken prisoner by Lord Byrch. Ser Malcom, what can you tell me of the man. I am told you are a knight in his service."

"Just did what any knight worth his spurs would have, milord," Ser Malcolm replied, bowing his head in respect as Belric shook his hand. "No need for the Ravensbane himself to treat me like some big damn hero."

"Nonsense," retorted Belric, pouring four glasses of wine and distributing them amongst his guests. "I merely killed a man on the battlefield, you saved the life of a helpless lady in distress. There is much to praise you for." He handed a glass to Ser Malcolm. "So tell me, you serve Lord Byrch do you not?"

Violet winced as she was referred to as helpless, but decided not to comment on the subject. After all, she had always believed that it was a knight's duty to rescue a lady in distress, and it was necessary to keep up the fiction that Malcolm had aided her.

"And in doing so, you saved a king. Everyone knows the tale." the knight reminded him, before shaking his head at the question. "I have never even met Lord Byrch. I served Lord Rosby during the war and sleep in the hedges now. Forgive my bluntness, milord, but I had hoped you might find a place for me in your household if you'll have me. I would serve you ably, I swear it."

"I won't deny your request, so long as you are willing to say the words. Though I am curious what events lead you to be a Knight without a house. Why did you leave Rosby's service? What of your own lands, and your family?" Belric was oblivious to any contentions plot against him. How could he suspect 'helpless' little Violet? He asked the Knight of his origins in earnest, woefull for whatever misfortune had plagued Malcolm.

Having refused the drink, Dacey stood by one of the walls with her arms crossed and studied the three. She vaguely remembered something odd about their behaviour upon their arrival, specifically that of Violet.

"I was a hedge knight before the war, milord. Not from some fancy house and my spurs are forged of steel, not gold." Ser Malcolm explained. "Lord Rosby took me into his service when he needed a few extra lances in his vanguard, the same as many bannerless knights found service. When the war ended, so did his need for my services."
(+2 Observation to Dacey)
Dacey detected Ser Malcolm was lying, but that the lie was likely one of omission. He wasn't telling them something. She found no clues as to his disposition, though he seemed amiable enough to her.

"And what of your family?" Belric asked with concern, family being an important staple in every man's life. "The war ended months ago, have you just been hiding in bushes waiting for noble women to be kidnapped?" He said it in jest, but perhaps some day he might realize the irony of his question.

"I've none left to speak of," the knight replied, solemnly, hardly the only one that could say that after the war. "As with most hedge knights, I spend my days traveling in search of gainful employment, helping where I may, displaying my prowess in hopes of being hired into a lord's house. There are no shortage of knights like myself these days."

"I am sorry to hear it, Ser Malcolm. The war has taken its toll on all of us." Belric walked over to the hedge knight, and placed an honest hand on his shoulder. "Employing your services is hardly an equal reward for saving the life of my sister. However, I am in need of good men. My lands are plagued with banditry, lead by a false prophet who goes by the name of Skinner Jon. I have seen his work first hand, and it is not pretty. He feeds on the ignorances of men, claiming to be a greenseer, sending his men into battle with the promise of foreseen victory. Are you superstitious, Ser Malcolm?"

(You rolled a 5)
"Were I, would I be so inclined to serve under your banner in these infamous halls?" Browncloak inquired, not really answering the question. "I had hoped, given the circumstances, that I might find a position as Lady Violet's sworn shield, but I will serve however you see fit. I am not stranger to fighting bandits. No man that rides the roads can be these days, unless they number among the lawless."

Belric laughed, oblivious as can be, swatting Malcolm on his shoulder jovially. "You are either smart enough to see through the wives tales, or dumb enough to come searching for ghosts. I'll reserve my opinion for the time being." It was clear that Belric sensed nothing wrong, his skepticism deterred by Malcolms nonchalant demeanor. "As for being named Violets sworn shield, it is a request I cannot grant. You see Violet is to be wed to Lord Roote, and I am not willing to lose my sister and a good Knight."
